Some Deeper Healing. | Apollo & Katie
gardnergrows:
“Yeah sort of like how you don’t take advantage of Rachel,” Katie said. If she’d been completely herself, she might have known she sounded completely mad. Apollo wasn’t the sort to take advantage of people who didn’t want to be taken advantage of. She felt as if he was waiting for the right moment to end it all though. It was twisted that he’d fix her only to have his people break her apart again. The injuries and suffering were his fault. “You did this. I wouldn’t be in this bed if it wasn’t for you. Connor wouldn’t be in his either. Youdid this.”
There was fear and anger written all over her face. Despite the aching of her fist from where she’d hit him, she wanted to do it again and again and again. She wished there was anything she might be able to use to make her suffer in the ways he’d made them suffer or at least the way she believed he’d caused them to suffer. She needed to get a grip on herself. She needed to come up with a plan. She’d find some way to get her revenge. She just hadn’t thought of it yet. He wouldn’t get away with what he’d done.
Her stomach felt raw and she turned her head to wretch into a bowl when the nerves overwhelmed her. She didn’t know what the fuck she was supposed to do about all of this. She just wanted to scream and yell and fight. She wanted to get out of his bed and grab ever person she gave a damn about and run but who could she even trust anymore?
“Does it make you feel good pretending to be this nice guy when you’re none of those things? You’re not even worthy of the title of God,” she told him when she lifted her head wiping her mouth. Her eyes were level with his and darker than normal with the intensity of what she was saying. She wondered how many people had dared open their mouths to put him in his place before.
Clearly the girl suffered from some sort of temporary madness. Apollo steeled himself against her insults, his face blank and passive while his posture remained confident. He’d had much worse things said to him, of course, much more graphic accusations about what his business with his Oracles is and much crueler things said about whether or not he deserved to be what he was.
Worthy of the title, he pondered… These demigods. These mortals. They haven’t the slightest idea of what it means to be a god. Do they think all gods simply sit about and indulge in the luxury of sloth and materialistic spoils? Apollo was, always had been, always will be one of the gods that had the most work to do. It was rare that he got a chance to enjoy himself… Even now, even this. This was him doing his job.
Still though, the girl managed to hurt him. He was here to help her, to help Connor… And yet in her madness she accused him of being responsible for their injuries.
“You’re mad.” He said simply and he shook his head as he looked at her while he kept his blank mask firmly in place. Around him, his children peered at her curiously. Apollo knew what he was doing, but he had to do it. For her. For Connor. They needed help beyond his capabilities and he knew it’d be difficult to coerce Dionysus into looking at them but what could he do with her in that state?
He’d have to force her back to sleep and pay Dionysus a visit.
